Adjuvant treatment of postmenopausal women w/ oestrogen receptor +ve invasive early breast cancer following 2-3 yr of initial adjuvant tamoxifen therapy. Advanced breast cancer in women w/ natural or induced postmenopausal status whose disease has progressed following anti-oestrogen therapy.
Not to be administered in women w/ premenopausal endocrine status. +ve result in doping control tests. Women w/ & at risk of osteoporosis; w/ vit D deficiency. Assess LH, FSH & oestradiol levels; bone mineral density. Routine assessment of 25-hydroxy vit D levels prior to start of aromatase inhibitor treatment. Vit D supplementation. May affect ability to drive & use machines. Hepatic or renal impairment. Women of perimenopausal status or childbearing potential should have adequate contraception. Not to be administered during lactation. Not recommended in childn.
